OGRA INCREASES RS 1.3 PER LITER IN PETROL PRICE

Petrol prices have been proposed by Pakistan’s top governing body for Oil & Gas products by rupees 1.3 per liter. The increase is proposed to align the local prices oil with international oil prices which is a monthly exercise on part of OGRA.Last month the government had slashed petroleum prices by rupees 1.3 liter, now though, if Ministry of Petroleum approves of the increase, the prices will then be raised by rupees 1.3 per liter from tonight.Price of Diesel and Kerosine oil is also proposed to be increased in the same proposal, by  rupees 75 paisas and 65 paisas per liter respectively.

A BMW FITTED WITH A MOTORCYCLE ENGINE OFFICIALLY

As you may have already known, BMW is working on a series of vehicle with the letter “i”, which is the all electric range of vehicles from BMW. The latest announcement from this range is the i3. A car whose engine is sourced out from a BMW motorcycle.BMW will fit a two-cylinder motorcycle engine and a generator to extend the range of its i3 electric vehicle.The i3 has a range on a single electrical charge of 97 to 145 kilometers. A two-cylinder gasoline engine, derived from a BMW motorcycle, extends the range to about 400 kilometers on a tank of gasoline.

HERE ARE THE CUSTOM DUTIES ON CARS AND BIKES 

Pakistan is a very depressing country when it comes to cars. Much of the cars that we wish to own aren’t made locally and if we go about importing them, then massive custom duties have to be paid in order to bring them into Pakistan.

Even after paying the custom duties, often the cars come cheaper than the locally made ones and mostly though, offer more value for money than locally assembled cars would ever give.

TOYOTA UPGRADES THE 2013 70 SERIES LAND CRUISER

Suzuki Mehran is kept in production even after 25 years have gone by, we complain, we protest and yet, there is no hope that it’ll be changed or seized from production as the sales suggests people still love it but the truth is, they don’t love it but they don’t have any option other than Mehran.

That is not the case with the 70 series Land Cruiser though. People have had options, from all 4×4 producing companies, in all sorts of sizes and prices but the reliability, ruggedness, and go anywhere attitude that the 70 series has promised us, no one have been able to make that promise available again in all the possible 70 series reincarnations that followed, even Toyota couldn’t and hence, continues producing the 70 series for the world over.

Little changes of what we know as ‘facelifts’ have been given but this year, the most major one has been introduced in South Africa where in some places, the Land Cruiser can be seen more than the Corolla.

Now the 70 series Land Cruiser is available with larger fuel tanks of 130 litres to 180 litres, and for the first time ever, ABS with four disc brakes have been installed amongst other mechanical and cosmetical changes, and the world’s first double cab 70 Land Cruiser is introduced.

This is the fourth body style to be made available on the existing 70 series line up after the Single Cab, Station Wagon and Wagon aka troop carrier.

THE NEW MERCEDES E63 AMG

The new Mercedes E63 AMG is here, it is not friendly to the environment and tyres more importantly. Although it may leave a big dent in your wallet if you plan to buy one and many more dents if you have bought one. You’d be thinking the dents that’ll come post-purchase would be due to fuel but you’d be wrong. Those dents will come as a result to the tyres this car is designed to butcher.

Actually a facelift to the already available model of E63 AMG, but the new front fascia is very striking now. But there’s another touch to the story, there’s a new model of E63 AMG announced alongside as well. The E63 AMG ‘S’.

Although both cars come equipped with the same 5.5 liter twin-turbo V8 engines, the ‘S’ model packs 585 BHP which is 28 horses more than the non-S version which has 557 BHP.

The ‘S’ version also gets a differential lock on the rear axle that Mercedes claims helps increase traction, “especially on the race track”. We’ve heard that, it sounds like rear tyre screeching as you race the circuit through your side-windows.

The new E63 presents the first iteration of AMG’s new design language too, featuring a ‘twin-blade’ radiator grille, a 3D air deflector spanning the front apron, black flics on the side air intakes, and a front splitter to reduce lift.

2014 CHEVROLET CORVETTE REVEALED

 We have always loved Corvette, because of how simple they are made. Some plastic, metal and a engine mated with a manual gearbox which then powers the rear wheels. This is how a Corvette operates and to beat the likes computer heroics, like GT-R, Porsche, Ferrari, etc etc, you’d have to learn how to drive in order to do that. The car itself have the necessary engineering to beat them but only if you, yourself want to. No computer would come to your aid.

With such go-kart like engineering, and being America’s favorite sports car, naturally, the world was waiting like impatiently and many leaks and renderings popped out on the internet. Now though, the real thing has been revealed at the Detroit Auto Show.

450 horsepower comes from the all new 6.2-liter Gen V LT1 V8 which is mated with an all new 7-forward speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic is there too.

TOYOTA SHOWS OFF THE FUTURE’S COROLLA WITH THE COROLLA FURIA CONCEPT

 Corolla is a car which is both hated and loved. If one admires and understands its use just as a tool, than you will love it but more than that, it is the most boring car you’ll ever come across but for everything else, Toyota has built the GT-86 which is although far beyond our reach but it is the fun car.

However, back then Toyota Corolla were fun and had utility, practicality until Toyota realized them as only tools for a mediocre family.Honda on the other hand, constantly works on Corolla’s competitor car, the Civic as both, a fun and a practical car. It unveils variants such as Si, Euro-R, and Type-R for people who want fun with practicality.

Now though, many auto-journalists are assuming that the Corolla Furia Concept is a take on the past for the future. Many initially believed it as a sedan variant for the GT-86 and FR-S sports coupes.

No one is sure at the moment but it does feel like Toyota is finally trying to induce some fun factor in its cars which it had ceased from doing so even though Honda continued introducing fun and practicality in the Civic.

It is definitely more aggressive looking then any other Corolla however, it does not have that sports touch to it. And production versions are very rarely, very close to the concept cars.

Acura Nsx 

 We know that you must be wondering what do we mean by displayed completely. Its just that anytime before today, when Acura (Honda) brought the NSX hybrid concept to meet the public’s eye. The public then was not allowed to peak inside the car. Only the exterior remained visible, now though, the Acura NSX has been given an interior, one which you can look at and drool.
The interior does looks expensive then what the original NSX had. The fundamentals of the original NSX seems to be lost towards making a super car instead of an affordable sports car which was perfected by the all time greatest F1 driver, Ayrton Senna.
Apart from the interior, the Acura NSX which is still two years away from coming into production, is still in concept form and has received few updates to the concept.
There’s no gear lever now and instead, you have to push buttons to make the all-wheel-drive hybrid get into motion.
The interior looks like quite a lovely place to be even though it is not even close to what the original NSX was.

HONDA INTRODUCES A SMALL, CITY-CAR FOR THE NEW GENERATION 

Detroit Auto Show is on-going these days which has left little or no room for any other auto shows happening anywhere around the world. But cars do take our attention away, and Honda, just revealed a concept car called ‘Gear’, which is aimed towards the gen-y buyers at unheard, Montreal International Auto Show.

Honda says its design is inspired by fixed-gear bicycles, and it approaches the supermini genre from a whole new perspective – all things which make the Gear sound like a very enticing prospect, if it were to be put into production.

It is quite a small car, identically in size with Renault Twingo, but with a bit of style and good looks to impress the new gen-y buyers.

In Honda’s own words, “subcompact cars are usually either utilitarian, but uninspiring or they’re fun, zippy cars that are impractical and too expensive for the Gen-Y buyer [ . . . ] GEAR Concept tears down those walls – it’s practical but fun, customizable, connected and affordable. Everything that young, discerning urban buyers would want in a car.”

BMW i8                     

The Vision Efficient Dynamics concept car is a plug-in hybrid with a three cylinder turbo diesel engine.Additionally, there are two electric motors with 139 horsepower. It allows an acceleration to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.

According to BMW, the average fuel consumption in the EU test cycle is 3.76 litres/100 kilometers, and has a carbon dioxide emission rating of 99 grams per kilometer . The estimated all-electric range is 50 km, and the 24-litre diesel tank extends the total vehicle range to up to 700 km . The lightweight chassis is made mainly from aluminium. The windshield, top, doors and fenders are made from polycarbonate glass, with the body having a drag coefficient of 0.22.
